Students from the Department of New Media and Communication at European University of Lefke gathered at the EAU TV Studios on May 14 for an interactive media training session that brought together both second-year and fourth-year students. The event, organized under the NMC464 Graduation Project II and NMCM258 Mobile Reporting courses, aimed to provide practical newsroom and broadcasting experience in a real studio environment.
The session was hosted by the dean of the faculty and academic staff at the university’s Media Center and EAU TV Studios. Second-year students were given the opportunity to perform assignments as reporters, presenters, and media crew members, while fourth-year students attended to observe, guide, and share their previous experiences in similar productions.
During the event, students learned about studio production techniques, camera operation, live presentation, teamwork in broadcasting environments, and the responsibilities involved in television journalism. The activity also allowed younger students to experience the pressure and excitement of working inside a professional media studio for the first time.
According to the course announcement shared with students before the event, attendance was described as “compulsory and essential” for those enrolled in both courses, highlighting the importance of practical training in the communication field.
Speaking about the event, fourth-year student Oussama El Hilali said the experience was both educational and enjoyable for participants.
“It was great to see second-year students experience the studio environment and practice real media work. Events like this help students understand the reality of journalism and broadcasting beyond the classroom,” he said.
The meeting also created an opportunity for interaction between different academic years, encouraging students to exchange knowledge and experiences while strengthening teamwork within the department.
