The future of the conflict between the United States and Iran remains uncertain after both sides delivered conflicting messages regarding ongoing peace negotiations.

On June 1 and 2, Iranian media reported that Tehran had suspended indirect communications with Washington, citing continued military tensions in Lebanon and concerns over ceasefire violations. However, U.S. President Donald Trump rejected reports that talks had ended, insisting that negotiations are still taking place and progressing rapidly.

According to reports, Iran is currently reviewing a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the conflict, which began earlier this year and has had major consequences across the Middle East. The war disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes, leading to concerns over global oil supplies and rising energy prices.

While no final agreement has been reached, diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes. Trump stated that discussions have taken place continuously over recent days and suggested that a breakthrough could be possible in the near future.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers that any future sanctions relief for Iran would depend on significant nuclear concessions from Tehran. Rubio also revealed that Iranian officials have shown willingness to discuss parts of their nuclear program that were previously considered off-limits.

Despite reports of suspended communication channels, neither side has formally withdrawn from negotiations. Analysts believe both Washington and Tehran are attempting to increase pressure on one another while keeping the possibility of a future agreement alive.

As of June 3, no peace deal has been announced, but diplomatic contacts and mediation efforts continue. The coming days are expected to be crucial in determining whether the two sides move closer to a lasting settlement or return to a period of heightened confrontation.
