Students and residents in Lefke witnessed a police permit inspection operation carried out near the university area on 10 April at around 12:00 noon. The inspection took place in front of the university entrance, where officers from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Interior Ministry’s mobile immigration checkpoint stopped individuals to verify residency and student permit documents.
According to observations from the scene, police officers and immigration officials checked identification documents and residence permits of several individuals using a mobile inspection vehicle parked near the roadside. The operation appeared to focus mainly on ensuring that students and foreign residents were carrying valid legal documentation.
The inspection was conducted during busy daytime hours, with students and pedestrians passing through the area while officers carried out routine checks. Such operations are periodically organized in different cities across Northern Cyprus as part of immigration and residency monitoring procedures.
No major incidents or disruptions were reported during the inspection, and traffic in the area continued normally while checks were being completed.
